Welcome to our TLWDS Summer Activations! This is an exciting opportunity for students to explore the imaginative world of Afro-futurism and unity through a series of creative projects, team-building activities, and engaging lessons. Below, you’ll find all the essential information to ensure your child has a fun and enriching experience.

 

Program Details

  • Dates: June 14, June 28, July 12th, July 26th

  • Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
     

  • Location: Victoria Park, Carson, CA
     

  • Age Group: Entering into 4th – 7th Grade
     

  • Capacity: 20 students selected for our summer program launch
     

 

What to Expect

During the four days of our summer activations, students will:

  • Explore Afro-futurism through teamwork, leadership-building activities, and hands-on projects.
     

  • Participate in creative art workshops, fun games, and interactive lessons designed to inspire their imagination.
     

  • Develop new skills in a supportive environment while building connections with peers and learning the building blocks of creating community..
     

  • Enjoy a collaborative and energetic atmosphere that celebrates creativity and cultural pride.
     

 

Daily Logistics

  • Meals: A nutritious lunch will be provided each day. Parents are encouraged to pack extra snacks and a reusable water bottle for their child.
     

  • Attire: Please ensure your child wears:
     

    • Closed-toed shoes for safety during activities.
       

    • Comfortable clothes suitable for active play and creative projects (they may get dirty!).
       

  • Camp Shirts: Each student will receive a TLWDS shirt to wear during the activations.
     

 

Important Reminders

  • Drop-off and pick-up details will be communicated closer to the activation dates.
     

  • All participants must stay within designated areas of Victoria Park during program hours.
     

  • Our team will maintain strict safety protocols, including missing child procedures, to ensure a safe and secure experience for everyone.
     

  • Parents are invited to attend the final day’s showcase, where students will present their Afro-futuristic creations and celebrate the conclusion of the program.
